Vimala College Thrissur, a first grade residential women's college under the CMC Management was established in 1967 following bifurcation from St.Mary's College Thrissur. The college has completed four decades of committed service to the field of education. Besides 14 graduate and 7 post graduate courses, Vimala offers 21 Value Added courses, 8 of which are sponsored by the UGC. Dr. Sr. Lissy John Irimpan is the Principal of the institution. Dr. Sr. Omer, the provincial of the CMC Congregation is the Manager of the institution. Currently there are 2047 students, a team of 116 teachers, and 47 non teaching staff. The college has made remarkable strides in curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The infrastructure and educational resources have been consistently expanded to meet the growing academic requirements. The use of technology in administration, education and learning resources has enhanced the quality of the teaching-learning process. Besides providing value added courses, the college has institutionalized Value Education and Community Extension Services

Dr. Sr. Lissy John Irimpan

Dr. Sr. Lissy John Irimpan, the Principal of Vimala College took charge of the college on 1^st April 2008 after the retirement of Sr. Lekha. She had worked in Commerce Department and had also acquired M.Com, M.Phill and Ph.D in her respective field.

Vimala College, one of the prestigious college in Thrissur, is situated in Cheroor which is 2 kms away from Thrissur town. All India Radio, Kerala Police Academy and Thrissur Engineering College are the nearest landmarks of Vimala College. From Thrissur Railway station to Vimala College the distance is about 4 kms & from Nedumbasherry Airport to Vimala College the distance is about 47 kms.
